Papa

“Papa” by Shortbus

Let me out of Prison and I’d go right back to the way for which I was born,
People looking at me like I’m in a cage but they can’t even see their own, and I say…

Oh Please Papa won’t you take me home

No apology I’m your Socrates, the corruptor of your youth,
Dear Timothy as I write your letter I’m hanging for the truth, and I say…

Oh Please Papa won’t you take me home
Will you remind me as I’m feeling poured out,
Of a story that we all sang aloud,
I’m not sure I’ll be escaping this time,
But our message is so sure to survive

Lost my scrolls and books and the coat on my back,
Left me all alone, some did me harm, I’d just like to see you one more time

I don’t want to stay, better to go away, but I’ll still remain

Oh Please papa won’t you take me home
